Dear Friends of the Phil:
Welcome to the 90th anniversary season of the choir! It is my pleasure to greet you as the Artistic Director of this wonderful group. It is my 13th season with the choir and I'm very proud to be a part of the great musical journey of the Phil.
This year is very special. I am very excited about the music we will present to our devoted audience and the guest artists who will be joining us! We start off the season with the beautiful concert "If Thou Wilt, Remember." The Phil will join forces with the RCAF Band to perform Anton Bruckner's Mass in E minor. Specially commissioned for the Phil's 90th Anniversary, "Songs of Remembrance," by the B.C. composer Stephen Chatman, will be performed at this concert. For the Phil's traditional "Holiday Memories" concert we will have very special guests — well-known Winnipeggers Lisa Meeches, David Northcott, Tracy Koga, Barry McArton and Tracy Dahl. I'm sure you'll enjoy their delightful memories of the holiday season and the great music performed by the Phil. The highlight of the season will be our gala concert with the choir presenting Felix Mendelssohn's famous oratorio "Elijah" with members of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and stellar soloists — Tracy Dahl, Kirsten Schellenberg, Kurt Lehman and Greg Dahl.
I would like to take the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our audience, to all the volunteers who help the choir run its concert series, and last, but not least, to all our generous sponsors and grantors for their continued support of the Phil.
Sincerely,
Yuri Kluz
