Biography

Barry McArton

The Phil welcomes Barry McArton as our President elect as of September 27, 2011. Barry has a rich foundation within the arts community both provincially and nationally. He is the former President and General Manager of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and past Executive Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Barry also held the General Manager's position at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre and the Liz Allan Water Sports Centre in St. Martens Netherland Antilles. Most recently, Barry retired as the Executive Director of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Barry sits on numerous community Boards including: MB Artists in Health Care, the Terry Fox Foundation Prairie Region, and the MB Choral Association Foundation, and is President of the Asper Jewish Community Campus, Vice President of the MB Soccer Association, and a founding board member of Floral Philanthropy.

The Phil is thrilled to welcome Barry on board as the leader of our team as we move forward into our 90th Season performing in Manitoba.
